According to a report by Bloomberg, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos smahsed records Monday when his personal net worth increased by $13 billion in a single day.

The surge was mostly due to Jeff Bezos’ stake in Amazon Inc. which jumped by 7.9% Monday. Despite the historic economic crisis the US now faces, Amazon stock is up 73% year to date.

Monday’s increase in net worth further solidifies Bezos as the world’s richest individual. Bezos’ net worth currently stands at $189 billion and has increased by $74 billion in 2020 thus far.
