Ted Cruz Blocks Senate Resolution to Honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg

  • Cruz objected to language his Democratic counterparts added noting that late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s dying wish was “My most fervent wish is that I not be replaced until a new President is installed”.
  • The liberal Justice died Friday, leaving a vacancy that if filled by a Conservative, could have sweeping and long lasting ramifications on several U.S policies and civil liberties.
  • When Justice Scalia died in February of 2016, Cruz blocked then-President Obama’s pick, Judge Merrick Garland, arguing at the time that it was wrong for a Supreme Court nomination to move forward so close to a presidential election.
