- Hollywood’s actors union launched disciplinary action against outgoing US President Trump, which could lead to the former “Apprentice” star’s expulsion. SAG-AFTRA “voted overwhelmingly to find probable cause of a violation” of its constitution by long-time member Trump.
- “Donald Trump attacked the values that this union holds most sacred — democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races and faiths, and the sanctity of the free press,” said SAG-AFTA president Gabrielle Carteris. The committee will also examine Trump’s “reckless campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting and ultimately threatening the safety of journalists,” according to a statement.
- SAG-AFTRA also represents thousands of broadcast journalists among its 160,000 members. “There’s a straight line from his wanton disregard for the truth to the attacks on journalists perpetrated by his followers,” said Carteris.
