GOP Gov. Demanded Public Praise Before Allotting Money From The CARES Act

  • Last year, Stitt gave 0.002 percent of the state’s $1.5-billion CARES Act funds to 170 local arts organizations that get “Oklahoma Arts and Cultural Industry Relief Grants.” In return, the governor demanded that the groups praise and promote the governor on their social media channels.
  • “To receive the funding, these arts organizations had to agree to some subservient demands, such as: A) Writing grateful letters of appreciation to the Governor, their State Senator, and their State Representative. B) Sharing heavily-guided social media posts that acknowledge Kevin Stitt for providing the funding.”
