
- According to military records obtained by CNN, John Andries, who was arrested in February for his role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, had served as part of the crew for Marine One during George W. Bush’s administration.
- Records show that he “served in the Marine Corps from 2004 to 2009 and was assigned to the Marine Helicopter Squadron One, the unit responsible for transporting the president, also known as HMX-1,” said CNN. “Andries was not a pilot, but his records indicate he was a Helicopter Crew Chief.”
- According to another CNN report last month, veterans are disproportionately represented among the nearly 300 Capitol attackers facing charges. Several are also allegedly part of extremist groups, like militias or right-wing groups.
