
- Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida appeared on Fox News’ prime-time show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday to address an ongoing DOJ investigation into whether Gaetz engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and broke federal sex-trafficking laws.
- Carlson struggled to make sense of his discussion with Gaetz, saying afterward, “You just saw our Matt Gaetz interview, that was one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.”
- The New York Times first reported on the DOJ’s investigation, and Gaetz confirmed its existence. In a series of rambling tweets, Gaetz contended that the investigation was an “organized criminal extortion” scheme against him by a former DOJ employee, and he called the Times story “a planted leak.”
