- A Michigan man has been released on a $10,000 bond after shooting a Black child in a dispute about over a bicycle.
- “I’m trying to figure out how he got a bond so low for trying to kill my kid,” the father wondered. “I’m scared for my family because I don’t know what he’s capable of.”
- “He tried hitting me with a sledgehammer but that’s not going to work because I’m too fast. (Then he) got a gun and BOOM shot me right here,” Colby exclaimed.

“A Michigan man has been released on bond after shooting a Black child during a dispute about a bicycle.
WJBK-Fox 2 reported that Arnold Daniel’s 6-year-old son Colby left his bike in Ryan Le-Nguyen’s yard and later returned to retrieve it.
Daniel said that Le-Nguyen confronted his son with a sledgehammer before retreating to his home where he fired a gun through the window, striking Colby in the arm.
“He tried hitting me with a sledgehammer but that’s not going to work because I’m too fast. (Then he) got a gun and BOOM shot me right here,” Colby later told Fox 2.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where doctors said that Colby would have died if the bullet had hit him one inch in either direction.
Colby is expected to fully recover.
Le-Nguyen was arrested by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s office and charged with assault with intent to murder. He was later released on $10,000 bond.
Colby’s father said he is angry about Le-Nguyen’s release.
“I’m trying to figure out he got a bond so low for trying to kill my kid,” Daniel wondered. “I’m scared for my family because I don’t know what he’s capable of.”
