As the media giant faces a potential exodus due to a series of publicized crises, results from its latest “Pulse” poll were released internally, and it’s not good news.
Facebook is trying to “divert the conversation from their current problems onto the metaverse, which is exciting and futuristic,” a senior partner at the consulting firm Vivaldi said.
The term “metaverse” that Zuck keeps touting was coined by sci-fi novelist Neal Stephenson to describe a virtual world where people can escape the dystopian real world.
“Facebook had long seen itself as a government unto itself,” wrote author Max Chafkin, “the site would push what the Thiel confidant called ‘state-sanctioned conservatism.'”
